Hiking
  • There are hiking/trekking excursions throughout the Pyrenees for all.  In Ceret, there is the Randonnee Ceretane for the more mature trekker, the Sentiers de Pyrene, for the sporty, and the Evasion for the young.  Please visit the Tourist Office in Ceret, or visit their website for more information.

Bird-Watching

  • The diversity of the Pyrenean flora, seemingly silent at first, are full of the high-pitched contact notes of Coal Tits, Crested Tits, Goldcrests, Treecreepers and Chaffinches. Then there is the urgent tapping of the real forest specialties: the black, whitebacked and middle-spotted woodpeckers. Above 1,500 meters (5,000 feet), the forest gives way to an open zone of scattered pines and juniper shrubs, then to Alpine meadows beneath the bare rock faces and snow. These upper reaches provide a habitat for Water Pipits, Alpine Accentors, Rock Thrushes, and in some places even the Snow Finch.  Raptors such as Golden Eagles, Lammergeiers and Griffon Vultures soar above the peaks on strong thermals.

SO MUCH TO SEE AND DO FOR ALL AGES
